Enhance Your Life Experience by Using the 5 (+1) Senses in Nature --Workshop
Are you wanting to experience life more fully? Wanting to be aware when you pass a fragile spring flower with a delicate scent? Wanting to enjoy the taste differences between varieties of honey? This workshop will increase your ability to live in the Now. Focusing on each of your physical senses and adding your energy sense, you will use your body and energies to strengthen your senses to maximize your life experience. These skills will be practiced in the wooded environment which enhances your success. 9:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m.
Sense-ual Writing --Workshop
Beyond the writing experience, magic happens when you write with conscious awareness of all the senses. You become more self-aware, your writing quality is enhanced, you are able to deepen your thoughts as you notice your body-mind connections, and moments from highlights in your life flow freely into your consciousness. These are opportunities to touch the deepest places in your heart and to grow peaceful, joyful and balanced. During your wanderings through the woods, garden and labyrinth you will have the opportunity to use your senses to enhance your creative writing. The variety of exercises experienced in this natural environment will enrich your repertoire of writing tools. 9:00 a.m.-12 noon
Expanding Awareness I & 2 --Workshops
These workshops will be based on the teachings of Tom Brown, Jr., the tracker. The key tool of the shaman is awareness. You will increase your use of awareness to include concentric circles, expanding your rings of the physical, the force and the spirit to sense and communicate with all elements in your environment. Must participate in session 1 to attend session 2. 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Nature and the Child with Special Learning Needs --Workshop
This is a workshop for the adults who parent or work with children who have special needs. The child with learning challenges benefits from the experience of being in nature as it doesn’t demand anything from him/her and is a gentle teacher. If you’ve read Last Child in the Woods: Nature Deficit Disorder you will understand the great need of all children to be exposed to the natural environment. It’s a great place to learn social skills as well as find insects. Participants will learn activities to help the children obtain maximum advantage from their outdoor adventures and strategies for making it a fun experience. 9 a.m.-12:00 noon
Women's Solstice Day --Retreat
This retreat will offer you time in the natural setting to refresh your body, mind and spirit. The peace and tranquility of the wooded sanctuary will support you throughout the day in returning to the balance, peace and joy which are inherent in nature. There will be introspective activities that will support you as well as small group interactions. Experience a labyrinth walk, a chat with some plants in the medicine wheel garden, a heart-to-heart with a redwood on a stroll, and then stroke some moss and join the chorus of the breeze. This retreat provides opportunities to clear your mind, rest your body, awaken your spirit and wash from the soul the dust of everyday life. You will leave refreshed, wanting to return. 9:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Survival Skills --Workshop#1
An acquaintance of mine broke her foot in the mountains of southern CA recently and due to her knowledge of wilderness skills was able to survive the night in snow, cold and high winds until rescue efforts came to her aid. In this first workshop you will learn how to find appropriate places for creating a shelter and experience constructing a shelter/debris hut and making a fire using the bow drill method. 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
